An Invitation to Fusion Living

I recently visited my daughter in Portland, where there are SO MANY great places to eat! They have a wide variety of ethnic food along with several fusion restaurants. This salad is a good example of a fusion recipe. It’s easy, refreshing and combines choice ingredients from two cultures. I call it Easy to "Beet" Salad.

Fusion cooking is an invitation to fusion living. It’s a good prompt to look at other cultures and use their strong core values to improve our lives. For instance, Japanese sports teams bring garbage bags with them. It is their custom to “jibun no ato, kirei ni”, clean up after yourself or leave no trace behind. After every game, they make sure their section in the stands and their locker rooms are left spotless. How wonderful!

How about the Chinese practice of “wu wei”, or effortless action? What? The foundation of Taoism, it means to stop resisting the natural flow of life; to focus on sustainability and let go of what you can’t control. Would these two ideas bless your life? Ponder that while you enjoy this salad. You can find the recipe and video in my Recipe section under Salads.
